Yeast infections, thrush or candidiasis is a common problem for both women and men. Yeast infections are often associated with the vagina, but they can also occur in the penis, mouth, throat, breasts and many other areas.

Wherever the yeast infection is, it is a source of irritation, pain and embarrassment. Most people find it hard to combat their yeast infections completely and end up having a reoccurance.

The most typical symptoms of a yeast infection are:

1. Burning – the area feels hotyeastinfectionsigns

2. Itching – the infection is very uncomfortable and there is little immediate relief from the sensation of itching.

3. Soreness – the burning sensation will also feel very sore. The area can be very sensitive. If a vaginal infection it will most likely be felt during intercourse (along with burning).

4. Swelling – the area infected can start to swell – as a result of constant itching or a progression in the yeast infection.

5. Discharge – the amount can be very small and is usually thick like yoghurt. It has a distinct yeast smell to it and is a clear sign something is not right!

Although these are the most obvious symptoms of yeast infection, there are many other symptoms that are a little more indirect.

These include: Muscle aches, mood swings, overly tired constantly, skin problems like psoriasis, headaches, irritability, stomach cramps, depression.

Yeast infection symptoms are not always clear cut, but if you are suffering from the 5 main symptoms above, then you most likely are suffering from a yeast infection.
