Yeast infection during pregnancy can be a big concern for many women. This article attempts to cover the issue of what may cause it and what you can do to overcome it for good.

Some women find that they experience their first yeast infection while pregnant. This can cause the mother to be quite distressed as treating it and getting relief may seem more difficult because they have to take into account the effect it could have on the baby. Whether there is a link between pregnancy and Candida and whether pregnancy can increase the chances of yeast infection is something that many have tried to answer. This article attempts to address the issues surrounding infection and pregnancy so one can get a better understanding and overcome their issue without having to result to treatment that could be potentially hazardous to their baby.

A yeast infection is characterized by thick vaginal discharge which is usually white with the appearance of cottage cheese. It can be very uncomfortable during sex and can also be fairly itchy. It is also becoming much more common in the Western world and is very much a Western issue. There are many reasons for this, the number one reason being that our diets are dominated by fat. The typical Western diet includes 30%+ calories from fat each and everyday. Fat can have a huge impact on our health and well being and is a particular issue when it comes to Candida.

Candida is an organism that naturally occurs in the body and is actually a life-saving mechanism. When blood sugars get high, Candida eats the sugar in order to bring levels down, however multiples as a result. Once the sugar level has come back down to normal then Candida’s numbers decrease. This is natural and perfectly normal so nothing to worry about as it is in all of us. Candida, however, becomes an issue when sugar levels continue to stay chronically high and Candida is continuously called upon.

When do sugar levels stay chronically high? Well when we eat a high fat diet we make an issue for our blood sugar and body. Fat is very hard for the body to digest and can stay in a blood for a long time (24 hours or so). When we then eat sugary foods after eating lots of fatty foods, this sugar passes into our blood but cannot transport out to cells because the fat prevents it from doing so. When this happens the Candida organism has to help bring down sugar levels by eating and thus multiplying. When this has to happen all the time it causes a yeast infection and is the reason why many people feel very run down and miserable. All that sugar, instead of going to your cells to nourish them is being chomped on by that organism, of course to help bring your sugar levels down, but still you are losing out.

In terms of pregnancy, it might be that you end up eating more food and more fatty foods as your appetite gets bigger and you start putting on weight. Or you may find yourself drawn to more sugary refined foods, which added to an already too much fat diet, can have disastrous effects. Overcoming the yeast infection then becomes simply a matter of being aware of what you are eating and doesn’t require medication.

Choosing holistic approaches to this type of problem will not only cure the underlying cause of it but also prevent it coming back. Even if you aren’t pregnant, medication and lotions only result in treating symptoms and most women who use this method end up with a recurring yeast problem. If you do decide to go with medications for relief (and can get some prescribed by a Doctor that are safe for pregnancy) it is important to treat this as only one aspect of overcoming the problem. Dietary changes also need to be considered for the sake of your health and to prevent further issues.

You may be quite hesitant to change your diet alone, but if this is the case there are plenty of dietary programs available that will give you a step by step plan to overcome this issue for good.  For some help with yeast infection diets please check out our reviews.

Causes of vaginal yeast infection are quite straight forward if we look at the science but unfortunately when we read articles on the web they often give you vague suggestions of what is the cause citing that non-cotton panties and tight clothing are causes.  Are they really?  Or do you find this utterly ridiculous too?

A yeast infection to me signals that there is something going on with my body.  If I was perfectly healthy, regardless of whether I wore cotton panties or tight clothing, I would not get a yeast infection.

It is best to think in these terms.  Disease is not something you get – you get ill because you aren’t healthy in the first place.  A healthy body does not get ill.  If you eat a nutritionally balanced diet, exercise, are stress-free and give time to be creative and get enough sun and fresh air, then the likelihood of illness is zero.  Healthy people don’t get ill!

So what does this have to do with yeast infection causes?  Well most treatments offer you a way to get relief from symptoms and to get rid of symptoms but the cause wouldn’t have been solved.  This is why so many people who choose to get this type of treatment get recurring yeast infections and deal with them more often than not.

So what causes vaginal yeast infection?  Well one of the main causes of yeast infections comes down to diet.  Candida issues have become an increasing problem in the Western world where we eat a high fat diet.  Eating a lot of fat everyday can lead to Candida issues, but the advice is normally given to avoid sugars because sugar apparently is the culprit.  It isn’t though – it is only in relation to too much fat that sugar becomes an issue.

Fat causes an issue because fat is hard for the body to digest.  It can take 24 hours for fat to be properly digested and while it is digesting it stays in the blood.  When you eat anything sugar related, it usually is digested very quickly.  Fruit is one of the easiest to digest foods on the planet but when you have fat in your blood it prevents that sugar from being transported to cells to nourish them.  It stays in the blood and causes your blood sugar level to be dangerously high.  The only way to resolve the sugar issue is Candida.  Candida is a natural organism that lives in you and it is specifically helpful in situations like this one.  However the more it feeds the more it grows.  This is perfectly normal and brings your sugar levels down to a safe level.  Unfortunately if your diet is always high in fat this will always be an issue (and thus the reason why many tell you to avoid sugar instead of cutting your fat intake down).

When we switch to a low fat diet (because ultimately some fat is needed in your diet) we can then start eating sugary foods like fruit without any issue.  This way we can overcome yeast problems especially recurring by simply changing our dietary habits.  That is all that is really needed.

Of course in the meantime you may want to choose an available treatment just so you can have relief from the symptoms but don’t be fooled into believing that those treatments have cured you – if they had the problem wouldn’t keep coming back.

You can cure your yeast infection without any help but knowing this cause of yeast infections, however if you feel you need to check out products please check out the reviews we have on this website.

Yeast infections can be a huge burden. Once we have had one they can keep coming back to annoy us and leave us feeling miserable.

I remember when I got my first candida problem. I had already known a few things about yeast infections before I got it, so instantly knew I would be in a lot of trouble trying to prevent future problems. I did end up getting a second issue but luckily I found out the real reasons behind my infection and never got another one after that.

You see a lot of the information available to you often tells you to wear cotton underwear and avoid wearing tight clothing. Honestly has this actually worked for you? What does this type of problem have to do with that? Candida overgrowth doesn’t occur because you wear tight fitting clothing or wear synthetic underwear, it occurs because of what you eat. It is why most Americans are overweight and obese and it is why yeast infections and other types of diseases and conditions have increased over the years. We eat too much FAT.

Now fat isn’t something to be scared of, we need it in our diet, but it causes us to have candida problems. You may feel that you don’t have a high fat diet but if you feel this way and are suffering from this infection, I encourage you to take a few days writing down everything you eat/drink and putting it into a program like fitday.com and seeing exactly what percentage of your diet is fat. Anything above 15% is a cause for concern.

So how exactly does fat cause an issue?

Well first of all you have to understand what Candida is. Candida is a form of yeast that occurs naturally in your body. This microbe is a sugar eater and for a very good reason. It is also this very reason why many books will tell you to avoid sugar or to reduce your sugar intake, however this is wrong.

If your blood sugar levels rise too high, the Candida microbe is there to eat the sugar and bring it down. But it only does this when the sugar can’t swiftly be passed onto your cells to nourish them. Simple sugars are very easy for your body to digest and utilize however if you have been consuming fat, this can cause a problem but only if fat is consumed regularly and for a prolonged period. Once in a while, your microbes will sort them out as shared above and this is perfectly normal but if you eat fat everyday and a lot of it then you are looking at an overgrowth problem.

Fat, unlike sugar, is hard to digest and stays in the blood stream for a good while. If you try eating sugar afterwards and before the fat has been properly digested then the sugar can’t swiftly pass to your cells to nourish them. Instead the Candida microbe will feed off the sugar to bring your sugar levels down to a safe level and when they feed they multiply. If you always eat a high fat diet, then there will always be fat in your blood stream preventing the sugar from passing through and nourishing your cells. This is also why many sufferers of yeast issues also feel tired and run down.

So if you really what to overcome problems with yeast – cut down on your fat intake. Readjust your diet so this never happens. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, exercise and you will prosper. You don’t need to keep taking pills from the Doctors or slapping on lotion every time one crops up you can be free for good with some simple diet adjustments.

Overcoming your yeast infections is really quite simple isn’t it?
