Waiting for your baby to arrive in the world is one of the most amazing things you can experience in life – unfortunately pregnancy can be far from comfortable! Not only can you experience morning sickness, restless nights, major mood changes and food cravings, you may also suffer from a yeast infection.

To tackle your yeast infection during pregnancy, you need to do what you would have to do if you weren’t pregnant. No, going to the Doctors and getting a prescription is not what you can do (and it will only treat symptoms anyway – not the underlying cause). You need to look at your diet – especially the fat content.

When we become pregnant our food cravings can make us eat everything and anything in sight – taking our fat intake too high in some cases, thus causing yeast infections. The problem with too much fat is that it is very hard to digest – it can take several hours and as a result will stay in the blood, rather than move along to our cells straight away. When we eat fruit or something with sugar it gets blocked from being absorbed from the blood to the cells because the fat is still there. Our blood sugar level becomes high because that sugar sits in our blood.

The Candida organism naturally grows in all of us and in some respects is a life-saving organism. It is when our blood sugar is high that the Candida organism eats at the sugar to bring the levels down. Eating the sugar makes the organism grow in population. If we constantly have a high diet of fat then this problem will keep occurring.

So as anyone should do with their diet, while you are pregnant be good about what you eat and cut down the fat. This will be much better for you and your baby anyway – and you can gain relief from symptoms and not have to worry about them coming back.

Yeast infections, thrush or candidiasis is a common problem for both women and men. Yeast infections are often associated with the vagina, but they can also occur in the penis, mouth, throat, breasts and many other areas.

Wherever the yeast infection is, it is a source of irritation, pain and embarrassment. Most people find it hard to combat their yeast infections completely and end up having a reoccurance.

The most typical symptoms of a yeast infection are:

1. Burning – the area feels hotyeastinfectionsigns

2. Itching – the infection is very uncomfortable and there is little immediate relief from the sensation of itching.

3. Soreness – the burning sensation will also feel very sore. The area can be very sensitive. If a vaginal infection it will most likely be felt during intercourse (along with burning).

4. Swelling – the area infected can start to swell – as a result of constant itching or a progression in the yeast infection.

5. Discharge – the amount can be very small and is usually thick like yoghurt. It has a distinct yeast smell to it and is a clear sign something is not right!

Although these are the most obvious symptoms of yeast infection, there are many other symptoms that are a little more indirect.

These include: Muscle aches, mood swings, overly tired constantly, skin problems like psoriasis, headaches, irritability, stomach cramps, depression.

Yeast infection symptoms are not always clear cut, but if you are suffering from the 5 main symptoms above, then you most likely are suffering from a yeast infection.

In order to eliminate your Candida issue, you need to change your diet – whether or not you use medications. Why?

Because medication only treats your symptoms. Once you finish your medication, the Candida issue will arise again. Medication does not treat the underlying cause.
A lot of advice given about Candida is to starve it of sugar – and thus cut out Fruit or reduce fruit considerably in the diet. This, however, is bad advice. Yes, if you eat lots of fruit this will exacerbate the Candida, but the sugar in the fruit is not the cause and not the reason that the Candida is made worse.

Sugar is very good for you in fruits. Sugar will pass quickly from your blood into your cells to feed them. It is when we have a diet of excess fat that the fruit in sugar exacerbates the Candida issue.

You see, fat is very hard for our bodies to digest and can take 12-24 hours to do so. As a result, the fat stays in our blood, so when you eat some fruit, the sugar from this cannot pass through the blood into the cells because the fat stops it. The sugar sits in your blood.

Candida feeds on this blood – it does so to bring the dangerous levels of sugar in your blood down, but by doing so the Candida population grows. As the American diet is very high in fat, the Candida continues to feed on the sugar and causes all sorts of problems in the person – infections, tiredness etc.

The only way to stop this cycle is to reduce the fat in our diets to around 10% of our caloric intake. This is the only way that we can eliminate our Candida outbreaks/problems.

Medication doesn’t offer a complete solution – only relief from symptoms for a little while. To stop the recurring outbreaks, we must change our diet and reduce the fat. It is only then we will be free completely of Candida issue!
